Born and raised among the coastal redwoods of Northern California, Madam Bandit grew up as the 8th of 9 children in a devout early American Christian cult. Music played a significant role in her family's life, but the expectations placed upon her as a teen bride and mother created a dissonance between her religious duties and her passion for songwriting.
Despite these challenges, Madam Bandit refused to give up on her dreams. By the age of 22, she had two sons and was recording her first album under her given name, Mindy Gledhill. This determination led to multiple successful indie albums, major brand placements, TV show features, and collaborations with Grammy-nominated EDM superstar Kaskade.
"Happiness" encapsulates Madam Bandit's journey of self-discovery, as she processed the grief from losing her community and found solace in the realization that her happiness had always been within her. The song's haunting melodies and deeply personal lyrics poignantly express the feelings of isolation she experienced during this transformative time.
Madam Bandit's new project sees her adopting an electro-pop alter ego, exploring themes of sexual liberation and feminism through her music. Tracks like "Punch You In the Face" and "At the Disco" showcase her bold, tongue-in-cheek style, while "Punctured Lungs" and "Lie to Me" delve into the darker aspects of healing and self-discovery.
In "Happiness," Madam Bandit demonstrates her ability to craft an emotionally resonant and powerful track that speaks to listeners on a deeply personal level. As she continues to navigate her journey of self-discovery, we can't wait to hear more from this incredibly talented singer-songwriter. Madam Bandit's metamorphosis serves as a testament to the power of resilience, self-expression, and the unwavering pursuit of one's dreams.
