Frankie Bird's latest single "23" is a poignant reflection on nostalgia and self-discovery, encapsulating her experiences during the pandemic. This track, part of her debut LP "Twenty Something," resonates deeply with listeners, drawing parallels to the wistful feeling of being Dorothy in Oz.

About the Song

"23" emerges as a standout track from Frankie Bird's album, "Twenty Something," slated for release on June 6th. The song captures the essence of longing for a time when everything seemed perfect, yet also embodies the realization that the present holds its own unique beauty.

Frankie Bird, previously known as FRANKIE, has transitioned from her pop roots to a more intimate singer-songwriter style. Collaborating with a new team, she has crafted a cinematic sound that is both expansive and deeply personal. This transformation is evident in her latest singles, including "Twenty Nothing," "When We Were Young," "Float," "If I’m Being Honest," and "Unstuck," which have collectively garnered over a million streams.

Frankie Bird’s Reflection

Frankie describes "23" as a personal narrative, akin to Dorothy's journey in "The Wizard of Oz." Written during the pandemic at the age of 29, she reminisces about being 23—a time when her dreams seemed to come true, only to find herself questioning the reality of those experiences. This introspection led to a transformative period where she wrote "Twenty Something" and found solace in her present life.

“23” is my own personal experience feeling like Dorothy in Oz. I wrote this song during the pandemic when I was 29, idolizing the year I was 23 when all my dreams came true and I felt like I was in Oz. I was fully living in the past, frozen in time, in denial about my present situation, and dreaming of going back in time. [...] By the time I recorded 23, I finally felt what I was hoping for in the song. There's no place like home. There's no place like 29. There's no place like here and now.

A New Chapter

Frankie Bird's journey in the music industry has been nothing short of dynamic. From touring with Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, and Daya to enduring personal losses and industry challenges, she has emerged with a renewed sense of purpose. "Twenty Something" is a testament to her resilience and artistic evolution.

Her previous work has received accolades from prominent publications. TREMG praised her lyrical prowess, while NYLON highlighted her distinctive voice, and ATWOOD MAGAZINE celebrated her spirit of renewal and self-love.

As Frankie Bird soars into this new chapter, her music invites listeners to reflect on their own journeys and find peace in the present. "Twenty Something" is more than an album; it's a narrative of growth, love, and reconciliation.
