CATBEAR - "Carry On"

Brighton and South London’s dynamic synthpop duo, CATBEAR, are back with their compelling new single, "Carry On," dropping October 18th. Just a week before their headline gig at Rough Trade in Bristol, CATBEAR’s latest release is a powerful anthem of resilience and self-reflection, building on their reputation for creating immersive, emotionally charged tracks. Known for blending synthpop with elements of darkwave and post-punk, CATBEAR crafts a haunting soundscape that feels equally fit for a late-night drive or an intimate, reflective moment.

“Carry On” dives into deeper, more introspective territory than previous singles like “Grow Up” and “Rush,” channeling moody synths and brooding basslines that recall the atmospheric aesthetic of the film Drive. Opening with ghostly spoken-word phrases from both members, Zoe and Sarah, the track unfolds into a dark verse layered with Zoe's ethereal vocals and imagery-rich lyrics that touch on loss and perseverance. The tension builds to a chorus that’s both a rallying cry and a reminder of strength, making “Carry On” an emotional journey that feels like a musical lifeline for listeners going through tough times.

Reflecting on the song, Zoe describes it as "about finding the strength to keep going, even when everything seems against you." This sense of persistence runs through CATBEAR’s music, crafted from a DIY ethos that has propelled them from a small indie act to a band with over 2.1 million Spotify streams. Their sound is a fusion of 80s synth nostalgia, 90s riot grrrl grit, and 00s post-punk revivalism, making their music a beacon for those navigating the challenges of modern life.

Following its release, "Carry On" will be performed at CATBEAR’s much-anticipated headline shows at OSLO in Hackney on October 12th and Rough Trade in Bristol on October 25th. With more music on the horizon for their album release in 2025, CATBEAR is set to continue their mission of creating songs that resonate deeply with fans across the globe.
